My Cherokee name was given to me by my third-great-grandmother, a survivor of the Trail of Tears. Her courage, endurance, and the connection I share with my Cherokee ancestors are an important part of the inspiration behind The Great Crossing.

My personal near-death experience profoundly changed how I understand life, death, and the connections that continue beyond what we can see. The Great Crossing brings together that experience, my connection to my third-great-grandmother, and the Cherokee heritage that continues through generations. It reflects the enduring connection I feel with those who came before me.
